Last year marked the 25th anniversary of ACT. We are a small UK-registered charity that is making a big impact in the 8 African countries where we work with more than 15,000 children and women beneficiaries. We are devoted to relieving poverty and advancing development among some of the most disadvantaged groups in sub-Saharan Africa; orphans and children from women-led households. We are always pleased to hear from talented, skilled people who share our passion and would like to be part of our team. We offer internships for those who are hoping to gain experience in the international development sector and others who like what we do and want to apply for a volunteer position.

Volunteering Opportunities (UK)
We have a variety of positions to suit individuals’ skills and experience, ranging from Communications and Social Media, Web Development, IT, Finance and Administration. You will be part of our staff team assisting the paid full time staff members, attend meetings and contribute ideas to enable the charity to implement its programmes in the UK and in Africa.
We operate flexible working arrangements, which means you can work from our Croydon office or virtually from wherever you are based. You can choose the days of the week that you are able to volunteer. We will expect your full committment to our vision and the ethos of the charity. We will cover reasonable basic travel expenses.

Internship/Student Placement Opportunities
We have a limited number of internship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and gap year students throughout the year. Please note that internships are unpaid, but we can help facilitate academic credit. We will cover reasonable basic travel expenses.

International Volunteering
ACTIVE is the ACT International Volunteering Experience. It provides opportunities for short and long term volunteering to support our projects in the countries where we work. ACTIVE was on-hold during the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are now open to application and expressions of interest.
