This September, long-time ACT supporter June will be climbing Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, for the fourth year in a row to raise money for ACT’s #StepForChange fundraiser!

She will be aiming to help reach our goal of £10,000, which will break the cycle of poverty for 40 women-led families in Tanzania for an entire year.

June’s journey with ACT began in 2010, when she applied and was accepted to join ACTIVE, the ACT International Volunteering Effort, and was part of a team of volunteers sent out on a project to set up ICT systems in several secondary schools in Tanzania, where she is from originally. The trip left a lasting impact on her and has been one of June’s most memorable life experiences. Incredibly, this is her fourth year in a row embarking on the trek! This time, she will be taking on the more challenging Umbwe route, which is known to be a lot steeper.

June says: “I specifically chose ACT because I have a passion of seeing young people living a purposeful and fulfilled life and one of the ways for them to realise that is by having an opportunity to access formal education.”
