Happy New Year – Welcome 2024

What a year that was, 2023 has come and gone and its Welcome 2024.

When in future the history of ACT is written, 2023 will be remembered as a landmark in our growth. It marked the 25th anniversary of ACT. Formed in 1998 from humble beginning, 25 years on ACT has impacted the lives of more than 16,000 disadvantaged children and poor widows in 8 African countries. We have educated nearly 7,000 children, well over 200 of whom have obtained university degrees or a diploma. Nearly 3,000 widows have benefited from our income generation programme that is alleviating poverty in women-led households in the rural communities across the 8 African countries where we work.

25th Anniversary Celebrations

Our teams in the UK and in Africa worked very hard throughout the year to mark our 25th anniversary with several events spread across the year. There were village parties for the children and community events organised by the women. In the UK the celebrations included the Kingston Boat Race on the River Thames, Golf competition, main celebration event in September, fundraising dinner at the Epsom Racecourse in October, with the Midlands fundraising dinner rounding up the celebrations in November.

Supporting more children

Earlier on in 2023, we set ourselves the ambitious target to raise funds to support 250 new children and orphans to mark our anniversary, that is 10 new children for each of the 25 years since ACT was formed. With your help we were able to reach our goal to raise £50,000 (£200 per year).

At the start of 2024 we would like to say thank you to all of our staff, supporters and donors who have made our work possible. We could not have achieved any of these without your help, encouragement, and financial support. You made all these possible.

Your support has enabled us to help some of the most vulnerable people in Africa and transforming lives across 36 communities in 8 African countries.
