We Can’t Thank You Enough
by ACT

‘We will survive …thanks to you’
To our dear friends and supporters,
Thank you for helping the people in need – the orphans, fatherless children and widows in Africa – people who are otherwise forgotten.
Supporting our work demonstrates that you have a life of vision and your acts of charity are worth appreciating. It’s so heart-warming that you wish good for others. In doing so you have made your life beautiful to them. We are extremely proud of you.
The first Coronavirus lockdown in the UK now more than a year ago, sent a chill through us at ACT. We feared what this would mean for our work and most importantly, how it would impact the people desperately in need in Africa who depend on our support. The general view was that charities would suffer the most if the economy went into a spin and people started losing their jobs. Then some of the bigger and normally well-endowed charities started to struggle. It caused an alarm. What were the chances for a small charity like ACT?
Yet the work we do is crucial, it is a lifeline for some several thousands poor children, orphans and widows living in rural communities in 8 African countries.

‘We are so grateful to ACT and your supporters for what you are doing. Only God can repay you. Thank you.’
[Gertrude, Tanzania]
One year on and because of you, we are still standing. We are operating and continuing our support for poor children in need. We even managed to take on 40 more children desperately in need of support early this year. Wow! You are truly amazing. We are proud of you and your acts of charity, which is impacting lots of lives, like the orphan, Gertrude in Kagera, Tanzania (shown in the photo).
All our main fundraising events for 2020 were cancelled, with a loss of between £15-18k of income, a huge sum for us and a setback for a small charity like ACT. But we still celebrated our 22nd anniversary last October in our first ever virtual event, this time on Zoom. About 300 people turned-up, what a blessing. We even arranged for some of our partners, children and alumni to join us, which would not have been possible if it was an in-person event, given the travel costs. This is one situation in which Covid worked for us, a blessing in disguise. It was a great event. You can watch the entire Biennial event 2020 or some of the extracts from our YouTube page (click here).

“Because of you, we will survive’. For the sake of the children and widows and the communities where we work in Africa, We will survive. We have to”.
We are grateful to all our child sponsors, donors and supporters, you are our unsung heroes. You have surprised us by your support in a most difficult and challenging time since we were formed. Your response and generosity were unexpected. Your kindness and compassion have encouraged us so much.
Please, still we need more help, so that we can continue our work this year and beyond. If you have not yet joined us in this work, do consider sponsoring a vulnerable child or orphan with just £15 a month or make a donation to our work. Click here to find out how. Thank you.
